I took this photo in June when I visited friends at Kure Beach near Wilmington, NC. This looks more like summer to me than anything I’ve ever seen. I didn’t want to replace it but mid-September prods me to do so. [June, 2009]

As a knitter, I love wool. As a lover of wool, I love sheep. My collection reminds me of the folks who gave me such thoughtful gifts.

This is a knitting project that is also in progress. It will be a sweater set—a sleeveless under sweater and a lacy, short bolero. I’m knitting as fast as I can.

The lack of light makes winter seem dreary. Sometimes a candle is all it takes to brighten a February day. Thanks for this photo Ron.

An ice storm has many positive aspects. One is its beauty. Another is its reminder that the contrasts in life are what make it interesting. I was sitting in the cold with the electrical service out and fearing walking and driving on the ice to get somewhere warm. Warm weather seemed so far away. Then I realized how much more I’ll appreciate daffodils once spring arrives. [December, 2008]

My friend Ron stood in the cold on Main Street to shoot this photo of the lighted Santa on the side of a bank building. The Wolf & Dessauer Department Store used this lighted display many years ago. It is reported that it was even hung unlighted during World War II. Natives of Fort Wayne associate this spectacular display with the holidays. [December, 2008]

This is autumn in rural Ohio. We’ve had a frost and the trees are almost bare. [October, 2008]
