The miracles of nature do not seem miracles
because they are so common.
If no one had ever seen a flower,
even a dandelion would be
the most startling event in the world.
My friend who took this photo gave me copies of his spring flower photos. They are breathtaking. We looked at them close up on my monitor and, when I came to this bloom, I marveled at the little curls that I’d never noticed before on a dandelion. He grumbled something about hating dandelions then admitted he’d never seen one this close up either.
It got me to thinking. When the astronauts looked back at the blue ball called earth, they tried to describe their awe. I wonder if their awe is the same as mine when I look closely at something so common as a dandelion?
I had noticed the curls on a dandelion before, but not for many, many years. So it was wonderful to be reminded.
Sorry for the late visit – I am sloooowly catching up on the Thursday posts. Please come back next week!!!
It is considered a weed and a nusiance. and there is all types of gardening and lawn ingredients to get rid of them. But as we can see from the picture they are exceptionally beautiful flowers. Just that yellow color should brighten up anyone’s day.
so profound!
Thank you all for your comments. This was my first Theme Thursday and it was great fun.

Hm. Yes, I guess you don’t have to find something new to be an explorer…
That is a great close up. The petals are very Mum like. Truly breath taking.
I’ve always delighted in dandelions, since I first ‘discovered’ them as a baby (there are stories ;^) and I’ve always felt a bit sad re: their bad rap. They really are quite extraordinary little plants. That is a fabulous photo!
Reminds me of when I was helping my wife with her garden one time, and I looked at one particular plant and didn’t know whether it was a weed or a flower. It was pretty, to me. But I was wrong, my wife said it was a weed and had to go.
All in the eye of the beholder, I suppose. 🙂
Great post!
Lovely thoughts
Nice thought. We probably can’t see the forest for the trees if you know what I mean.
Wonderful sentiments. You are thinking like an artist! Great TT thoughts.
