Most other competitions are individual achievements,
but the Olympic Games is something that belongs to everybody.

The Winter Olympics fascinate me on several levels even though sports aren’t a particular interest of mine. One level includes ski sweaters. I knit several Dale of Norway (the company who designs ski team sweaters) ski sweater patterns over the years then, during one Winter Olympics, I knit a design of my own—the sweater in the photo (closeup in the new masthead).
This seamless sweater starts with a yoke that also forms the sleeves. There is a buttoned placket and narrow, stand up collar. I picked up the body stitches between the sleeves of the yoke, and knit down to the lower edge. The bottom is finished with a hem that contains a draw string. The yarn is a DK weight wool/mohair blend.

But what about the lovely sweater that the girls holding the gold medals were wearing after the hockey and curling,, I would love to find that pattern!!!
Katherine,
What a beautiful sweater. Your workmanship is impeccable. And I just love the pattern. I could see this style reworked into a terrific sweaterdress for wearing over tights with some tall brown boots 🙂
It’s so beautiful to look at, Katherine. Even though right now knitting is not possible for me, I love to look at beautiful knitted garments.
I agree with Mary Ann that it’s great to be able to see the pattern detail so clearly on top of the page. A lovely pattern….
Thanks, Mary Jo
I love being able to see the detail of your stitches in the masthead. Beautiful! Now, back to that sock I mentioned to you.:)
Mary Ann
GORgeous sweater!!!!! I love the design and construction and ooohhhhh, those beautiful colours!!! Why yes, I AM smitten!
I enjoyed watching some of the opening ceremonies (got to it late) and enjoy some of the winter sports… snow boarding :^) for one.
Yesterday when I read the wonderful quilt post (lovely quilt), I noticed (and admired) the masthead and wondered about it.
Lovely sweater. I’ll probably be glued to the TV during the entire Olympics even though, I too, am not particularly interested in sports at all and never watch any of the summer Olympics.
Odd, but I love them.
