When you’re a nurse
you know that every day
you will touch a life
or a life will touch yours.
We gathered for dinner at the University Place Hotel in Indianapolis last Friday night. Nine of us attended. Even though I only worked as a nurse for ten of the 45 years since we graduated, I welcomed the chance to visit with my classmates. Since we are looking forward to our 50th reunion in five years, I maintain a website for the group with an eye toward gathering everyone together for our big celebration. Here’s a LINK to our site.

Thanks for bringing back some memories, Katherine! Another striking similarity for our histories…I graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with my degree in nursing in 1964. Strange, but until your post, I never really counted how many years of active employment as an R.N. I actually had. I worked for less than 9 years, and some of that was part time. But there has never been a time in my life when I didn’t think of myself as a nurse and use the skills I gained in becoming one, so each day the quote still rings true.

Katherine,
I really enjoyed and related to your post as we are of the same vintage. I’m from the Nursing Class of 1967,St Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Elmira NY (Mark Twain’s birthplace!) I’m sure we could share many tales i.e.of being in charge of 40-bed med-surg units or escapades to distant affiliations. How about a rotation ina TB Sanitarium, Mt Morris,NY,etc? And I loved the quote-so true. Thanks for a step back in time!
