I do not at all understand the mystery of grace—
only that it meets us where we are
but does not leave us where it found us.

As I sat in the pet emergency room during the wee hours of last Wednesday morning, the thought struck me that Toby was the best example of God’s grace I’ve encountered in my earth-bound life. His love was freely given and required nothing in return. His quiet, gentle presence enriched my life.
I also recently had a beloved pet pass. I am so sorry for your loss.
I’m also sorry for your loss. Thanks for your thoughts.
Dear Katherine, I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your Toby and so sorry I never got to meet him. I know you must be devastated since the more we invest in someone, human or animal, the more we feel it. I hope you will find peace down the road and be able to think about finding a different furry friend. The are so consoling when we need them to be. Love you , Marilyn
He stayed next to me when I was under the weather and I fancy that he would have brought me lunch if he had been able. Love, K.
I’m so sorry, Katherine. He was such a sweet boy.
Thanks Erin. He reminded me of your father’s little dog. They are dear, aren’t they.
I’m so sorry to hear of your loss, Katherine. What a sweet face. I agree with Jackie, Rainbow Bridge is a beautiful essay and provides consolation when we lose our precious furry friends. You’ve written a lovely tribute. Hugs, Kathy
I am encouraged almost daily by your blog. Thanks so much.
I am sad with you, Katherine. I know how much Toby meant to you and how much you meant to him. He was blessed to have you, and I love that you saw in him God’s grace. Peace to you in these days of missing him.
I also see grace in the comments folks leave here. Thanks so much.
Katherine, I know Toby meant the world to you. I had a little cry just reading your post because I still miss my Holly. Find some peace looking at his pictures and thinking of all the joy he brought to your life. Love, Mary
It is so good to have friends who understand that pets can fill an important place in life. Thanks.
Oh how sad to lose your friend. My condolences. This is a hard time. Have you read the Rainbow Bridge? If not, Google it. It’s a wonderful essay but I’ve never read it without crying. Jackie
I found Rainbow Bridge. Thanks for the advice. Also, I feel sad that you lost your kitty.
