In the depth of winter
I finally learned
that there was in me
an invincible summer.
[Albert Camus]
I can’t really whine and complain since there are millions of folks affected by the unusual severity of this winter BUT I know I am a summer person because I had to resist the urge to put on sandals and shorts just because it was above zero this morning. As you can see, my car is a summer thing too. I considered putting the top down when I took this photo but the trunk was frozen shut. There’s an azalea bush somewhere under that five-foot bank of snow. I hope it lives to bloom again.
Just think, under that snow bank, a small crocus is raising its little head, The Saturn Sky will also raise its top and spring and summer will arrive, The snow bank will just be remembered in the photograph. Isn’t it wonderful how the earth renews itself.
True and very poetic.
I have a 1967 Skylark convertible that was my daily driver for most of its life (and a lot of mine!). I discovered that I’m not that much of a “summer person,” though, when it turned out to be too hot to put the top down in Texas summers. Also, I didn’t get it with AC because I thought I’d be moving back to Ohio and it wouldn’t be necessary. Oh, well. *G*
Spring and fall are the best times for a convertible aren’t they.
My car is stuck in my driveway. I have been bragging about how nice it is to have a new car that drives really well in the snow. I have lived in the same house for 23 years. This is the 2nd time I have gotten stuck in my driveway in the snow.
I still love winter though. I will be in Utah this week skiing and visiting my sister.
Do keep yourself safe and have a wonderful time.
Hang in there. Spring will be along in a few weeks.
