 Cole Duke Smith was born February 26, 2008 at 8:44 a.m. He weighed in at 10 lbs 9 oz. and measured 20.5 inches long.
Last Monday and Tuesday were busy for the Smiths in Wilmington, North Carolina. Beverly and James presented our family with another member. Grandpa Smith visited from Charlotte, and Grandpa and Grandma Duke drove from Bicknel, Indiana for the big event. Grandma Misegades (that’s me) shoveled snow and dreamed of holding Cole in his hometown that has 70-degree weather in February. Meanwhile oldest grandson, Joshua, stayed over last night. We read more chapters in Uncle Wiggly. Today, we are going to get a boy haircut and tour the downtown library. Busy. Busy. |

Jamie, I am ssssooooo happy for you and bev. Give the baby lots of kisses for me.
You should have called me when you took the boy to the library. I would have loved to go with you.
Another grandbaby!! lots of kisses coming his way. Allison had thought about naming Xander Cole. That would make her name (Allison) her greatgrandmas maiden name and her son would be named Cole for another of her great grandmas maiden name. She decided that it was too commonly used. She wanted something different. And Xander it is. Hope you get to go and hold him soon.

Jamie… I can hear you saying that to Bev! I am really happy for you both! And thanks so much for my 4th nephew! 3rd nephew in the last 5 months! Hope that Owain and I can make it across the pond sometime this year… Maybe Turkey Time… 🙂

I am so glad Cole has finally arrived. The last few weeks before he came along were wroght with anticipation. I am sure my Wife Bev was really tired of me saying “Are you feeling anything yet.”
It has been more than a week now and Bev and Cole are doing fine. We both could use a little more sleep ( this should include our dog Jackie too). Jackie is doing great with Cole. She shys away from him. She is getting more used to him everyday. For those of you who don’t know Jackie she IS the best dog in the world. She is a reincarnation of a dog I had as a child named John.

Yes, Cole is a handsome boy!! Lots of dark hair, but not as much as little Michael. However Cole weighed at birth about what Michael weighs now at two months. It will interesting to watch those two little ones so close in age grow. Big cousins Joshua and Owain will be leaders of the pack of grandsons for a while, at least for a while. April called and wishes the best for her new cousin. Someday we will all have to get together in the same part of the world.
